Guayaquil is Ecuador’s largest city as well as one of the most important ports on South America’s Pacific Coast. The city has gone through a comprehensive facelift involving some of Ecuador’s largest architectural and tourist projects like Malecon 2000.
Now the pride of the city, Malecon 2000 is a huge complex encompassing tourist attractions, the botanical gardens and a historic park that includes a museum reproducing a 19th century suburb and a tropical hacienda. La Rotonda, Centenario Park, colonial Las Penas neighborhood and Cerro Blanco Ecological Reserve are also important city landmarks.
